staying in

Staying in is the new ‘Going Out’ 71% of us look forward to plans being cancelled!

The best weekend plans are no plans at all. A recent study of 2,000 adults aged over 21 discovered that staying in is the new going out.

Three in four respondents agree there’s nothing better than having no plans for the weekend and 71% also look forward to plans being cancelled so they can just stay in.  While the large majority of us (69%) prefer to stay home on weeknights – 38 percent say they just want to stay at home, spending quality time with just their loved ones on Saturdays and Sundays too.

The survey, conducted by ‘Our-Poll’ found that two in five respondents say their ‘homebody’ transition started in their 30s, with eight out of ten agreeing that they would actually prefer to have a night in with friends or just their wife/partner these days rather than going out on the town, and having quality time to be intimate with a partner was coveted by the majority.

The perfect night in on a weeknight included either cuddling up on the settee and binge-watching TV (33%), cosying down with a bath and candles (26%), cooking a meal together (21%) and even going for a romantic walk, then back home for an ‘early night’ with a bottle of wine! (20%).

A perfect weekend also included going for walks, cooking and eating, intimacy and cuddles; but naturally, more respondents were looking to catch up on some lazy-time and just have a lovely lie-in!

Seventy-two percent considered their nights in, and being close with their best-friend almost like a therapy session, having fun, and having some ‘sexy-time’ was what they needed on average of three times per month to stay sane!

In terms of what makes the perfect ‘couples night in’ – respondents preferred a bottle or two of wine (36%) making love (25%), cooking and eating together, (17%) a takeaway (15%), and a ‘rom-com’ with nibbles (7%).
